The key is not the will to win. Everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. Bob Knight

“I had the pleasure of working with Em for 3 years and during that time she completely transformed my life. She helped me to become more flexible and be able to affectively breathe throughout a game. Not only did she help me grow and transform within my sport but she also made me begin to love the practice of yoga. She has made me love it so much that I have continued to practice even after being done with Rutgers Athletics. Em is an incredible person and yoga instructor and I am forever grateful that I was able to work with her.”

“I just want to speak on my amazing experience with Team Yoga. During my senior year I was blessed to be around the best yoga instructor I had ever seen. Throughout my journey in yoga I came to realize that it is the best thing for you mentally, spiritually, and physically. As a football player who is constantly putting mind and body in high demand, I tend to forget that it needs to be taken care of better. The answer to this was definitely yoga. Once I figured this out, I had one of the best seasons ever. If you are a person who wants to elevate in any shape of form then I suggest that you consider Emily with Team Yoga.”

“Nobody Runs because it’s easy- they run for the satisfaction of improvement, and you can’t do that when you’re injured. I’ve seen a dramatic decrease in my team’s injuries and tangible, week-by-week progression in flexibility from working with Emily. Beyond that, we’ve benefited from the mindfulness and guided meditation Emily incorporates into sessions that come in handy in such a demanding sport. Yoga was something I didn’t always associate with Track, but now having seen how it benefited not only myself, but my team across the board, it makes perfect sense.”

“Team Yoga was an incredible experience and contributed to helping my performance on the field this year. This was my first time practicing yoga in season and the benefits of the stretches helped me in my recovery from the quick turnover of consistent games in season. Along with this- Team Yoga created a positive atmosphere that guided me and my teammates to use yoga as a tool that helps us on the field and off the field.

“Having done yoga multiple times in my life, I was never that interested in the entire concept, until I met Em. She was able to completely change my mind about yoga and get me excited to do it. She had a special bond with our team and we all loved to spend time with her every week. She was always very understanding to our needs and helped us prepare mentally and physically for our practices and competitions. Yoga would help us relax and mentally focus on ourselves rather than everything going on around us, which is a lot when you are a student-athlete. Yoga was a key to our teams success and I am forever grateful that Em helped me realize that importance of it.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Emily for two years now, as she comes to Rutgers to work with our team every week. During these past two years I have noticed major differences on and off the field when it comes to flexibility, my breathing, and especially my recovery time. I can say with 100% confidence that Team Yoga has played a vital part in our teams success, so thank you for everything Emily!”

-Kyle Pless: Rutgers Mens Lacrosse Alumni

“During my senior year of Division 1 Lacrosse at Rutgers University, our team had the pleasure of working with Emily Bowker Darling of Team Yoga. She focused on the basics of yoga and our team reaped the benefits: less injuries, more functionality on the field, and we were always fresh for game day. Thank you for you time Emily and instilling the importance of well being and taking care of our bodies into the culture of Rutgers Mens Lacrosse.”

“When Emily and Team Yoga were introduced to the Princeton Field Hockey team, it was an amazing experience.  Emily coupled together her knowledge of being a field hockey student-athlete herself and her expertise with the practice of yoga in order to give us the best possible experience.  Each week when we were able to take part in a TeamYogaNJ session, it was a break from the field, the classroom, and the stresses of life.  Emily was able to connect with all of us and show us stretches and exercises that complimented our rigorous in-season schedule and targeted the muscle groups that needed extra work and attention.  Not only was the yoga and stretching a beneficial piece, but our team loved her use of essential oils to end the session.  I can sincerely say that the sessions were a key piece that helped to drive our program to the next level.  The introduction of TeamYogaNJ to our team was an incredible fit and one of the pieces of the field hockey program at Princeton that I will miss the most when I graduate in the spring.”
